Want to add a window or door to your home? Read this first.

Do you find yourself staring at a big wall in your home and thinking “Wow, a window would look fantastic there?” For those renovating or even just making a small improvement, adding a window or door to your home may seem very simple. However, there is a right way and wrong way to do it. Avoid wasted time, effort, and budget by following a few simple steps and working with Window Expo.

Step one: meet with a contractor or architect.

To properly plan your window or door project, an architect or contractor has the correct qualifications to evaluate the possibilities. Keep in mind that behind the walls, every home is complex. Structural framing integrity must be ensured to keep your family safety. A general contractor or architect can properly assess the space and determine exactly what needs to happen. They’ll examine the studs and framing then come up with a solid solution for dealing with a load-bearing wall or any structural braces needed.

Step two: plan your project.

Once you’ve met and have an understanding of what’s possible in your home, it’s time to make a plan to execute it. The general contractor or architect will create blueprints or schematic drawings to correctly document the project. This is important so that accurate measurements can be taken. Then, you can work with Window Expo to choose a style of window or door that best suits your home. Our custom vinyl windows are available in a variety of styles that can brighten interiors and add curb appeal – all while providing energy efficiency benefits.

Step three: get your new window or door installed.

With exact, precise measurements, Window Expo’s installation experts can collaborate with your general contractor to install your new window or door. Once the contractor has completed the opening, we’ll handle installation. When you purchase and install a window with us, it’s protected by a true double limited lifetime warranty. Having our trained experts at Window Expo handle installation means that they’re installed correctly and will keep your warranty intact.

Step four: enjoy the view!

Let’s be honest: this is a pretty fantastic way to the end process. Enjoy your new door or window and the new perspective it brings to you and your home.

Ready to get started? No matter where you are in the process, Window Expo is here to help you choose the right windows and provide expert advice that you can count on. As fellow Texans, helping our neighbors improve and care for their home is something we love to do. Give us a call with any questions!

Celebrating the Holidays: WEBE Family Traditions

Christmas may be different this year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t uphold our favorite holiday traditions. Eating delicious food, decorating the tree, looking at lights, and spending time with family are some of the best parts of the season. This time of year is all about celebrating with the ones we love the most. Our family traditions make the holidays special and unique. Typically, these traditions involve gathering together, sharing a meal, and spending quality time with family. Because of the unprecedented times we are in, this year will look different, but we can still find a way to celebrate the holiday season. Here’s how a few of our team members are safely continuing their family’s traditions.

“Every year my family drives around to look at Christmas lights while listening to Christmas music. We never go very far, but we choose a day, pile in the car, and go. Everyone has some hot cocoa in a thermos and we just enjoy the show. I am so happy that with all going on this year we don’t have to change a thing!”

-Arlene

“Our family tradition is all about the food we share together!  And even though we won’t be eating around the same table this year, we all agreed to prepare the same meal and zoom call each other to enjoy.  We also go around the table and share blessings of the year and always end with the story of Jesus’ Birth and prayer.”

Christmas Eve: Tamales, my family’s 3-day Pinto Beans and a Honey-Soaked Grapefruit & Avocado side.

Christmas Day: Gramma’s Insanely Amazing Prime Rib!

-Amanda

“It is a Korean tradition to bow to our elders every New Years’ day.  Therefore, I bow to my parents and my in-laws. My children bow to me, my husband and both grandparents. After the bow, the elders give us money in an envelope – the amount varies according to wealth and age.  😊 We have upheld this tradition to respect my parent’s culture and my heritage even though I was born in the states.”

-Susie

“This year, we’ve started a new tradition in my family. Within the past year, I have found out through DNA tests that I am 37.5% Ashkenazi Jewish which makes my mother 75% ethnically Jewish. I knew growing up that my mother’s side of the family was Jewish, but I never knew or heard much about it. After finding this out, it sparked an interest with me and my sisters to learn more about our Jewish heritage. We’ve always only celebrated Christmas, but recently learned that my mom celebrated Hanukkah and Christmas growing up (her mother was Jewish and her step-dad was a Christian). So, we’ve decided to celebrate both holidays this year as an homage to our heritage! We have had so much fun learning about this side of us and hope to carry this on in the years to come.”

-Sarah

We loved hearing about how some of our team members spend their holidays. How does your family celebrate?

The Right Windows to Boost Your Mood with Natural Light

Ever notice that you feel a bit happier and invigorated in certain rooms of your home? One factor that impacts your mood is light whether it comes from a window or an artificial source of light. A study conducted in 2014 found that people working in spaces with windows (and thus more natural light exposure) slept better and overall reported better health and well-being when compared to those without window access. Appropriate lighting makes your day-to-day tasks easier and the appropriate kind of light can help you in many aspects of your life, impacting your ability to relax, appetite, level of energy, and mood.

It’s also long been understood that artificial light decreases levels of melatonin, which helps our bodies regulate sleep and other biological cycles called circadian rhythms. Spending long periods of time in a room without windows could make your circadian rhythm a little offbeat, making you feel sad or even depressed.

Windows that brighten without a chill.
During the winter, when you’re spending lots of time indoors, it’s important to get some sunlight to avoid the “winter blues” which can leave you listless and lethargic. However, if your windows are old and drafty, you might discover that they allow the cold in, making you miserable in an entirely different way. That’s why our replacement windows are insulated, using multiple panes of Low-E glass as well as Argon/Krypton gas fills between each. In addition, our foam-filled frames will keep a chill away so that you can stand right next to the window and soak up the natural light. You get the benefits of natural light and energy-efficient, cozy benefits. It’s a win-win.

Bring light into your living room and bedroom.
With your home, living rooms and bedrooms best benefit from natural lighting. Garden windows and bay windows are a perfect fit for living rooms because they allow tons of light into your home while creating a beautiful view onto landscaping. Bay windows allow light to come into your home from three angles and can add more usable space for additional seating or a bench directly in front of the window. It’ll be the perfect place to soak in some sunlight and shake off the doldrums.

For bedrooms, consider ways to bring in natural lighting during the morning hours. Sunlight activates your senses, making you feel energized and ready to meet the day. One danger is to allow too much artificial or blue light into your bedroom. This kind of light can contribute to sleep problems because it causes your body to be more alert. It’s often emitted from certain kinds of LED bulbs, electronic devices as well as computer and phone screens. Be mindful and try to filter this kind of light out of your bedroom, particularly during the evenings when you prepare to go to sleep.

Need a mood boost?
If you’re considering replacing your windows and want to hit the perfect atmosphere for your home, we’re here to help. Contact us and we’ll review all of the options for your home and find the perfect window for your living room, bedroom, or any space that could use a mood boost from natural light.

Deter Intruders with these window security features

Deter Intruders with these window security features

Be Leery of Cheap Replacement Windows - Window Buying Tips from Window Expo Texas
Your home is where you should feel most safe. To have peace of mind, we often invest in security systems and other methods to deter burglars. However, have you considered whether your windows are providing the best defense against intruders?

Most home invasions are over in a matter of minutes. Typically, a burglar wants to quickly get into your home, grab something of value, and get out as soon as possible. Tightly securing any entry point to your home makes it harder for a thief to steal from you. Approximately, one-fourth of home break-ins occur because a thief has entered through a window as they are often overlooked by homeowners as a vulnerable point of entry.

Because safety and security are among the top priorities at Window Expo, our windows are built from the ground up to keep your home secure. Our Anlin Del Mar windows are AAMA Gold Forced Entry Certified, meaning they’ve passed the most rigorous tests in the industry as defined by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association. These tests are carried out by accredited independent laboratories and analyze structural performance under wind loading, resistance to air leakage and water penetration, and most importantly, forced entry resistance.

To keep your home protected, our windows have several security-minded features. First, continuous interlocking rails block intruders from “jimmying” the lock with a screwdriver. In addition, all of our large and medium-sized windows have enhanced security with dual locks. Finally, you can rest assured that you’ll know whether your windows are locked. With right and left-handed locks that are engineered to always have the lock lever pointed downward when locked, you can tell at a glance if you’ve left a window unlocked.

However, very desperate thieves will sometimes try to break the glass on a window to quickly “smash and grab” items in your home. Our double-strength glass is twice as strong as the industry standard and twice as hard to break at thicknesses of 3.2mm for small windows and 5mm for larger ones. Also, some thieves will try to use a putty knife to quietly remove a pane of glass without breaking it. That’s simply not possible with our windows because the main glass-to-frame seal is on the interior, unlike many of our competitors. Even if the exterior glaze bead is removed, it’s virtually impossible for an intruder to remove the glass without breaking the glass and making an extremely loud noise.

Secure your home with the best windows

When you’re considering replacement windows, make certain to inspect the safety and security features. Otherwise, you may be left out in the cold. We’d love to show you our superior features and help you secure your home. If you’re looking for peace of mind and a window with excellent performance for Texas climates: we’re just a phone call away. Make a same-day appointment or schedule a convenient time to meet with one of our experts.

Feel the Difference in our Windows – Here’s How.

Feel the Difference in our Windows – Here’s How

Be Leery of Cheap Replacement Windows - Window Buying Tips from Window Expo Texas
How often do you take a close-up look at the windows at your home? Even when you clean them, you’re likely not focused on small details that make an impact on their performance and appearance. But, at the end of the day, these details can affect your home’s curb appeal and even the energy efficiency of your home.

When it’s time to replace your windows if you can’t touch and feel the new window, how do you know it’s right for your home? With over 75 features and tons of options, our customizable windows are something you need to see firsthand. That’s why we have a conveniently located showroom where you can closely look at our windows and get expert advice from a window specialist. You can also make a same-day appointment and meet with us to get up-close and personal with our Anlin Del Mar windows.

We’ve shown these windows and demonstrated their excellent features to literally thousands of happy customers. Over the years, there are a few attributes that customers are always drawn to:

Superior Frame Quality

Because we are so confident that our windows stand out among all of the options on the market, you can compare our offerings against windows from our competitors in our showroom. We’ve even cut the frames so you can see the interior chambers. Many of our competitors have large, hollow chambers which create poor insulation. However, our Anlin Del Mar windows have a foam fill with low conductance to provide superior thermal insulation. You’ll see the difference when examining the cut-down frames.

Substantial Offset Glass

When customers hold our Anlin Del Mar windows in their hands, they often comment about how substantial they feel. Our windows have sturdy offset glass, which means they’re composed of two panes of glass where one is significantly thicker than the other. This technique helps mitigate the extreme changes in temperature that we often experience in Texas. Also, it is an excellent sound insulator typically reducing exterior sounds by ~20 decibels.

Tons of Customization Options

No matter if your home is mid-century modern or a classic bungalow, our windows can fit right in. We have the perfect range of colors available for your window frames, so there’s always an option that will fit your home. Garden windows, picture windows, casement windows… we have lots of styles to choose from. One feature our customers love is that both the interior and exterior color of the window frames can be individually selected. If the exterior of your home would look best with dark frames: go for it! You can pair it with a nice warm white on the other side, if your interior needs to be brightened up.

Ready to see all the options for yourself?

Call us today to schedule a same-day appointment or make plans to visit our showroom. With the holidays right around the corner, now is the perfect time to get these beautiful custom windows installed. You’ll be comfortable, cozy, and delighted to have an entirely new perspective this winter

Should you be leery of inexpensive replacement windows?

Should you be leery of cheap replacement windows?

Be Leery of Cheap Replacement Windows - Window Buying Tips from Window Expo Texas
Everyone loves a good deal, especially when it comes to home improvement. With so many options for cheap replacement windows, it’s hard to know a truly great deal when you see one. When you’re making this kind of investment in your home, it’s important to weigh three factors into your decision-making process.

Energy Efficiency

A big benefit of new windows is energy efficiency savings. High-quality windows can drive down your monthly energy bill. But you won’t always see big savings if you choose a window poorly.

Some cheap replacement windows lack features such as gas-filled double panes that reduce heat transfer into your home. Filled windows use an inert gas like argon in-between panes to keep heat out of your home in the summer. Cheap window alternatives may also lack low-E glazing, which makes the panes of glass close to the temperature of interior air. Without these two components, homeowners choosing a lower-cost window don’t reap the cost-saving benefits of energy-efficient windows. The amount saved by purchasing cheap windows is completely lost when a homeowner’s heating/cooling bill arrives.

Investing in these kinds of features will save money in the long haul and make your family much more comfortable throughout the year.

Return on Investment

Low-cost windows are only one bottom line factor. When you purchase new windows, you are making an investment in your home. Consider that when you purchase your windows, you’ll also need a qualified team to install them and a strong warranty to ensure that your investment doesn’t go to waste.

Often, cheap windows aren’t backed by a double limited lifetime warranty like Window Expo’s. That means over time if you experience any issues like pitting, cracking, peeling, or chipping, your windows may not be covered. Also, many companies that offer cheap windows simply do not install them properly, nor do they guarantee their installation work.

Because we want you to be our customer for life, our highly-trained professionals are the most experienced in the industry. Their work is also covered by an installation warranty, which is rare and hard to find in our industry.

Replacement Window Life Span

If you’re attracted to a window because of its low price, consider the life span. Many inexpensive windows will only last 5-7 years and are warrantied for that short amount of time. How long do you plan to stay in your home?

These types of windows are often made with lower-grade vinyl that may contain filler ingredients that lose color over time or are less resistant to decay. You’ll also be limited on options and features that add curb appeal.

All of this means that you can expect to purchase windows again during the time you own your home. If you’re planning to live long-term in your home, choose a window that will last a lifetime. You’ll not only avoid additional expense but save time by making the best decision the first time.

We’re here to help.

We work in small batches to help limit the outdoor elements from coming into your home. Then, we’ll haul away the old windows so you can say goodbye to drafty windows forever! “After 13 years in our home, we noticed gaps and condensation between our windows. We knew it was time to replace our existing, cheap aluminum windows. The execution of the installation was perfect. The Window Expo team was professional and extremely prudent of not leaving any debris behind. How nice to have all of the old aluminum windows hauled away. How Window Expo engineered windows for smart Texas homeowners

How we specially engineered windows for Texas homeowners.

How Window Expo Engineered Windows for Texas Homeowners

It’s a little-known fact that different kinds of windows are manufactured especially for different environmental conditions. If you’re lucky enough to call Texas home, shouldn’t your windows be built with the unique climate of Texas in mind?

Many windows for Texas homeowners installed by our competitors are actually manufactured for other regions of the United States. Our windows are specifically engineered to meet the unique challenges presented by the Texas climate because, as a locally owned business, we know the Lone Star State. The sweltering summers and mild winters in Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and other Texas cities cause certain window qualities to be more important than others.

What makes our custom-made Anlin Del Mar Windows the smart windows for Texas homes? There are four key factors we took into consideration when creating them:

Low-Maintenance Vinyl Frames

Vinyl frames are an excellent barrier between the exterior and interior of your home that’s meant to keep heat exactly where it belongs. We’ve purposefully chosen foam that’s inserted in dead air chambers within the frame for maximum energy efficiency. With ultra-strong, fiberglass-reinforced inserts, your home will have superior thermal insulation. And, vinyl frames are easy to clean, strong and will not warp or rot over time. They’re a smart investment for homes in Texas.

Low-E Glass

Homeowners tell us that they love how bright and cheery their homes are after our window replacement process. That’s because our windows feature low-emissive glass, which brings more light into your home without sacrificing energy-efficient qualities. It’s a microscopic coating that is transparent and provides maximum protection against sun exposure. This makes it ideal for the Texas climate. During the winter, warm sunlight can enter your home. During the summer, you get the cooling benefits of perfect solar control.

ENERGY STAR® Certified Windows for Texas

Smart homeowners know to shop for ENERGY STAR® certified products because they deliver on value and are rigorously tested to be energy-efficient. Our windows exceed these requirements, helping you save year-round. Nationwide, windows with this certification lower energy bills by 12%. Window Expo customers with whole-home window replacements see maximum savings both in terms of their bills and energy efficiency. That’s not just pocket change but real money you can put to work. And, as a bonus: our windows are manufactured in the USA for extremely reasonable prices without
sacrificing quality.

Custom For Any Style Home

There are so many influences on Texas architecture. Homes in the region vary from farmhouse and Tudor to craftsman, mid-century modern, and ranch. How can one window be a fit for any type of home? We make it easy because our replacement windows are customizable in every aspect: style, color, configuration and more. Whether you are looking for a huge portrait window as a focal point in your favorite room or specific color options to match both the interior and exterior of your home, our windows are a workhorse.

Thinking of a change?

We’re eager to help! As a locally owned company in Texas, we know that when Texans work together, it not only makes our homes better but also our community.

We deeply care about our customers and they’re our family. That’s why we created our custom replacement windows with their specific needs in mind. Let’s make a change together – reach out for a free, no-commitment quote today from one of our experts in your neighborhood.

Hope = Confident Expectations ❤

Have you ever looked to the future with great confident expectations?

One month ago, many of us could only look toward the future with much uncertainty. Seems like even at one month later, many are still only looking 1-2 days ahead…as the future is still a bit unclear.

Here at Window Expo and Bath Expo, our team had a choice:

1) Do we choose to look toward our future with uncertainty and fear?

2) Or do we choose to embrace hope, and confidently expect good to come from it all?

We didn’t have to look too far to find our answer. Our incredible team members.

When Texas began to prohibit large gatherings, we completely understood & supported why. However, we knew this would affect a big portion of our team…our Shows & Events Team. Home & Garden shows were cancelling, malls were closing their doors and outdoor events were on a permanent hold. Over 30 amazing team members suddenly had no place to represent our brand…and we didn’t know if or when events would open back up.

The future was unclear. However, even in the midst of uncertainty, one of the events team members said to me:

We’re going to be ok. We just need to focus on getting through each day with joy, love and hope. And even though I cannot promote our brand in the field, I will be promoting our brand to my social media, friends and family. Because this company is unlike any other. I love this company.

I love that: “Focus on getting through each day with joy, love and hope.”

And that is exactly what we have chosen to do!

We are choosing joy, love and hope every single day.

We are choosing to have confident expectations for the future.

We are choosing to spread hope in our community.

We are choosing to care and serve our customers with excellence.

Hope = Confident Expectations.

Join us. And let us know how we can serve you!
